2001 Visit Home to Aruba

In December 2001, we were invited home to Aruba for attendance at the first annual E-Life Expo organized by the Aruba Management Training Institute
in Aruba.  The conference took place at the Wyndham Hotel and Casino in Aruba.

The ARUBA box was presented at this conference.  The talk included basics on
HST and the role of the ARUBA box.

There were many good questions from the audience who consisted mainly of school-aged kids.
Many thanks to AMTI for organizing the conference, and to Kiwanis Aruba for
sponsoring the trip for our whole family.

There were also exhibitors from the local IT industry in Aruba.

The ARUBA box was well received, we even met the Governor of Aruba, His Excellency Mr. Olindo Koolman.

The Governor was extremely warm and charming.  We spoke for more than an hour.
Afterwards, the secretary told us that our's were the first kids to have an official meeting with the Governor.

My kids were impressed by the visit.

There was quite a bit of press coverage of the E-Life conference, including
this front page article of the local paper, Diario.

After the visit to the Governor, we went across the street to the historic Willem III tower.
Here, we got a VIP tour, and Agnes can be seen here with the kids on the balcony.
Just as we were leaving, it started to rain!

At the top of the tower, there is a clock movement.  We were allowed a rare look
inside.  The beautifully preserved mechanism was appreciated by my son.
