2015 Trip to New Orleans

Visiting the Big Easy for the first time.

hotel
Our room at Lapension Hotel in the French Quarter. It had several art pieces decorating the
place including a reproduction of an old safe.

apple
One of the art pieces, decorated with a fresh apple.

One of the two bedrooms.  Nicely decorated.

...and the chair was an art piece.

The hotel (blue dot) was right in the French Quarter.

Our first dinner was wonderful at Mr. Ed's seafood.  The catfish and
fried oysters were great.

Our first full day there would be one of the few sunny days of the trip so
we went to the Garden District.

Corner of Prytania and Fourth Street.  With the historic "corn fence".

Magnolias, Camelias and Azeleas were blooming like this one on
Prytania and Second.

Beautiful side entrance near Coliseum and Second.

Picnic in the car in front of the Garden District Book Store.

We also visited the City Park's sculpture garden.

As we often do, we brought our skates and hit the two rinks near NOLA.
This one was our favorite with the music and the family oriented crowd.

On the cloudy days we walked around the French Quarter
including historic St. Louis Cathedral.

We also visited the NOLA Sea Aquarium, which is two blocks from the hotel.

Another highlight was having Beignets at Cafe Du Monde.
Along with the Cafe au Lait, it was the perfect lunch.

We also ventured into the Ninth Ward to see the recovery status from Katrina and
saw this Victorian house from one of the levees.

One of the nicest dinners we had was at Muriel's, just off
Jackson Square.

We also ate at "Willie Mae's Scotch House", and "The Joint" in the Ninth Ward.

They have a Seance Room where one of the original owner still haunts the place.

We had lots of fun exploring the place and will go back one day.
