Trip to Canada
To Celebrate our Aunt and Uncle's 50th wedding anniversary
We
travelled to Canada on 7/6/12 and flew into Ottawa. On the
way
there, we were stuck for 8 hrs in Chicago O'Hare due to the slow work
of the United Airline Baltimore ground crew. From the Ottawa
airport, we rented a car and drove to my Uncle's house. To
kick
off the weekend, he gathered us for a Garden party at his home.
The next day we went on a hike around a local lake. It was a
really nice day.
Stephanie and the other cousins caught some crayfish, frogs and other
wildlife. Here she is pretending to kiss a frog.
The
lake is surrounded by high cliffs and sees very few mixing wind.
As a result, the lake sometimes attains a turquoise color.
After the hike, we stopped at a local ice cream place.
The anniversary banquet was at the New Dragon Restaurant in Ottawa.
We enjoyed seeing our cousins from Canada and around the world.
The hotel where we stayed (the name means 'welcome' in native
Canadian), and the car.
Just
before going to the airport on 7/8, we went for a walk/skate downtown
and along the Rideau canal. In the winter time, when it ices
up,
this is a big ice skate path.
We walked to the Canadian Parliament building (background).
After this trip, we spent one day at home, and then headed with the
cousins to Aruba.
